Scratchboard Art
www.maxinetyndall.comMaxine has always had a passion for fashion and art. Her early work took the form of elegant fashion drawings and shadowy portraits. Many of the figures were created on black film board meticulously etched out with an Exacto knife. Maxine honed her skills as a portrait artist at Ontario Place and Canada's Wonderland over many summers. Maxine's formal training included fashion design at Ryerson University, Fine Arts at the Ontario College of Art, and Graphic Design at George Brown College. Scratchboard consists of a white board coated with a black firm. By scratching it with a small knife, the black is removed to expose the white surface below. It could be described as the opposite of working with pen and ink.
