Why hire a dog walker?
Socialization and exercise are the obvious reasons for hiring a dog walker but the benefits of a dog walker go far beyond a walk in the park.
The number one reason is always socialization. An unsocialized dog often becomes a strain to her/his owner for a variety of reasons: the dog doesn’t behave well with visitors, it becomes difficult to walk the dog in the neighborhood, the dog is stressed and destructive at home and the dog has aggression issues (there are too many to list)... A socialized dog is a more relaxed and confident dog. Socialization provides interaction with people, dogs and the numerous external elements like traffic and the construction as well as different environments like off leash parks and nature trails.
The second most popular reason for a dog walker is exercise. The immediate benefits are your dog having fun in the park with her buddies and the calm it brings at home. A regularly exercised dog is a happy dog and a happy dog is a calmer dog in your home. After a routine is established with a dog walker you’ll notice your dog expects or knows exercise is coming (in the form of your dog walker) so they wait for it instead of, say, chewing on the corner of a wall... Exercise also has positive long term health effects and is effective form of weight maintenance. What we do for them now will pay off in the long term.
